Section 1: Identity Proof Documents
Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is mandatory for all financial services in India. This comprehensive guide lists all required documents with detailed specifications to ensure smooth account setup.
Submit ANY ONE of the Following Documents
PAN Card (Permanent Account Number) ⭐ MANDATORY
Requirements:
- Clear, colored copy (scanned or photographed)
- Name should match bank account exactly
- Aadhaar-PAN linking is compulsory as per CBDT guidelines
- Must be valid and not expired or cancelled
Why PAN is Essential: Mandatory for all financial transactions in India. Used for tax reporting and compliance.
Aadhaar Card
Requirements:
- Both front and back sides required
- Masked Aadhaar (last 4 digits hidden) is acceptable
- Can be used for instant e-KYC verification
- Must be linked to active mobile number for OTP verification
Benefits: Fastest verification method. Enables digital signature and instant account opening.
Passport
Requirements:
- Valid Indian passport (not expired)
- Photograph and signature page required
- Suitable for NRI clients and international documentation
- All pages with visa stamps accepted as supporting documents
Voter ID Card (Election Commission)
Requirements:
- Government-issued voter identification card with photograph
- Valid across all states in India
- Accepted by all SEBI-registered financial institutions
- Both old format and EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) accepted
Driving License
Requirements:
- Valid state-issued driving license with photograph
- Both old paper format and smart card format accepted
- Must be within validity period
- International driving licenses not accepted
All documents must be self-attested. Your signature should match across all documents. Documents should be clear and readable – blurred, damaged, or torn copies will be rejected. Photocopies must be certified or self-attested.
Section 2: Address Verification Documents
Submit ANY ONE current address proof. For utility bills, documents should not be older than 3 months.
Accepted Address Proof Documents
Utility Bills (Electricity / Water / Gas)
Requirements:
- Recent bills not older than 3 months from submission date
- Must clearly show your full name and complete address
- Landline telephone bills also accepted
- Must be in your name or close relative (with relationship proof)
Bank Account Statements
Requirements:
- Last 3 months statements from any scheduled commercial bank
- Must show name, address, and account details clearly
- E-statements acceptable if bank-stamped or digitally signed
- Passbook front page also accepted
Aadhaar Card
Dual Purpose:
- Serves as both identity and address proof
- Latest address should be updated in Aadhaar database
- Instant verification available through e-KYC
- No additional documents needed if Aadhaar is used
Passport
Requirements:
- Current address mentioned in passport
- If address differs from current residence, submit additional address proof
- Address page must be clearly visible
Rent Agreement with Utility Bill
For Rented Accommodation:
- Notarized or registered rent agreement in your name
- PLUS landlord's utility bill in their name
- Both documents are mandatory
- Rent agreement should be current (not expired)
If your current address differs from permanent address, provide both current and permanent address proofs to avoid future complications in correspondence and document delivery.
Section 3: Income Proof Options
Required for investment advisory services, risk assessment, and suitable product recommendation. Submit ANY ONE of the following documents.
For Salaried Individuals
Income Tax Returns (ITR)
Requirements:
- Latest ITR acknowledgment with computation of income
- Filed returns for last 2 financial years preferred
- Shows comprehensive income picture from all sources
- Must be filed with Income Tax Department (acknowledgment number required)
Salary Slips
Requirements:
- Last 3 months' salary slips from current employer
- Must show gross salary, deductions, and net pay
- Company seal and authorized signatory signature required
- Digital pay slips accepted if from company email
Bank Statements Showing Salary Credits
Requirements:
- 6 months bank statements clearly showing regular salary credits
- Name of employer should be visible in transaction description
- Consistent monthly credit pattern required
- Must be from salary account
Form 16 / Form 16A
Requirements:
- Tax deduction certificate from employer (Form 16)
- Form 16A for other sources (TDS on interest, etc.)
- Latest financial year document required
- Must be issued by employer or deductor
For Self-Employed / Business Owners
Submit ITR with computation of income, audited financial statements (if applicable), or GST returns for last 2 years. Professional tax receipt or business registration certificate also helpful for verification.

Section 4: Signature Requirements
Physical Signature
- Sign all documents in blue or black ink pen (blue preferred for verification)
- Signature should match across PAN card, bank account, and all submitted documents
- Use consistent signature style – avoid major variations
- If signature differs from PAN/bank, submit declaration
Digital Signature (e-Sign)
- Aadhaar-based e-Sign accepted for online submissions
- Legally valid under Information Technology Act, 2000
- Instant verification and processing
- Requires OTP authentication on Aadhaar-linked mobile
Photograph Specifications
- Recent passport-size color photograph (3.5 cm × 4.5 cm)
- White or light-colored background preferred
